POSTION SUMMARY

This position is open now. Under the guidance of the Housekeeping Services Lead, Services Associates play a crucial role in upholding the Village’s mission of hospitality and teamwork. This role is cross-trained in both housekeeping and laundry, allowing for flexibility and a comprehensive understanding of the Village’s operations. When the Guest Services Lead is off, the Services Associate takes charge, leading daily meetings and overseeing the team’s activities to ensure seamless operations.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS

  • Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
    • Maintain Public Spaces: Lead the cleaning and upkeep of lounges, dining hall, and common areas, ensuring they are welcoming and well-maintained.
    • Oversee Laundry: Manage the washing, drying, and folding of Village linens, ensuring cleanliness and availability.
    • Daily Leadership: Run team meetings and oversee housekeeping and laundry operations when the Guest Services Lead is off.
    • Guest Support: Address guest needs related to housekeeping and laundry, enhancing their overall experience.
    • Manage Supplies: Monitor and restock cleaning and laundry supplies to maintain consistent service.
    • Event Prep: Assist in preparing spaces for events, ensuring they are clean and organized.
    • Promote Sustainability: Use eco-friendly products and practices to minimize waste and support Village sustainability goals.
    • Ensure Safety: Follow health and safety protocols in all housekeeping and laundry tasks.
    • Collaborate: Work closely with the team to ensure smooth daily operations and effective teamwork.
    • Train and Develop: Participate in training and help onboard new team members to maintain high service standards.

  • Specific knowledge and skills include but are not limited to the following:
    • Strength to lift and carry items through the day.
    • The ability to spend 6 hours a day working on your feet.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and excellent hygiene practices.
    • The ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Upholds a strong belief that proper maintenance of physical space is an important way of demonstrating care towards and welcoming to its inhabitants.

Long-Term Volunteer

    • Enthusiasm for and ability to work in a remote wilderness setting.
    • Willingness to participate in a mutual review after 6-months.

    • Extends genuine hospitality to all villagers.

    • Help new staff and volunteers integrate into the community.
    • Commits to staying up-do date on all required vaccinations, including COVID-19.

Seasonal Volunteer

  • Enthusiasm for and ability to work in a remote wilderness setting.
  • Pledges to work in ways that support and fulfill Holden Village’s Mission, Vision, and Values and commits to the terms of the Community of Practice Agreement.
  • Abides by Holden Village’s Community Health Protocols and Practices.
  • Extends genuine hospitality to all villagers.

  • Commits to staying up-do date on all required vaccinations, including COVID-19.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

As a Long-Term Volunteer, you are eligible for the following compensation and benefits

  • $550/month stipend
  • Food (three meals/day)

Education

Holden Village is a community where your questions are valued and encouraged. Most programs led by visiting teaching faculty occur during the summer months. However, Holden also invites faculty to teach sessions for special events and retreats throughout the rest of the year.
