Elizabeth Stewart

Elizabeth Stewart DNP-APHN, NEA-BC teaches Public Health Nursing and Professional Development in the Undergraduate Nursing Program at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. She especially loves participating in the mentoring and formation of professional nurses who understand the importance of the Social Determinants of Health and are prepared to advocate for health equity for their patients and communities. In her spare time, Beth loves to knit, read, hike, forage and dabble in herbalism.

SESSION DESCRIPTION

The United States is the wealthiest country in the world and yet our life expectancy and health rankings as compared to other affluent countries are dropping significantly. This series explores how our history of social and racial injustice as well as an increasing wealth gap contribute to this phenomenon and how attention to the Social Determinants of Health (the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age that are associated with health) can lead us toward health equity for all.
